Being Muslim in the World of Basketball in Canada

This is the inaugural event for a 5 part series facilitating honest, raw, authentic conversations about equity and diversity in basketball and how to make culture of basketball more inclusive involving various stakeholders in the community including players, coaches, and officials.
Sessions are 90 minutes: first 20 minutes is dedicated to discussing education related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) concepts in sports followed with a 70 minute discussion where we hear lived experiences from a panel of guest speakers involved in basketball within various roles including players, coaches, and officials.

Hijabi Ballers’ Sunday Ball will take place every Sunday from 2:30-4:30 pm at Salaheddin Islamic Centre! Bring your sisters, mothers, daughters and friends!
This is an opportunity for Muslim females to explore their passion for sport 🏃🏽♀and play basketball in an inclusive, welcoming environment. Girls 13 and older and women of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Hijabi Ballers Video
The Hijabi Ballers video celebrates Muslim female athletes in the Greater Toronto Area by shining a light on their altheticism through various sports. Featured in this video are local athletes who have fought through the challenges of being visibly Muslim female athletes as they integrated into their sports and cultural communities, to transform into phenomenal athletes, women, and lovers of sport.
