About Hijabi Ballers
Hijabi Ballers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing, celebrating, and increasing access to sport and physical activity opportunities for Muslim girls and women. Through community programming, advocacy, leadership development, and sector-wide capacity building, Hijabi Ballers works to remove systemic barriers and build culturally safe, inclusive spaces where Muslim youth can thrive and take up space on and off the field.
Project Overview
Hijabi Ballers is seeking a qualified Program Implementation Consultant to support the execution of the Hijabi Ballers In Schools (HBiS) initiative.
HBiS is a three-year initiative that has completed its initial research phase across eight Muslim-majority schools in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We are now moving from research into action, seeking expert support to transform research findings into a comprehensive, scalable, and responsive school-based sport implementation plan.
As part of this mandate, the consultant will synthesize existing research to identify critical gaps, limitations, and unanswered questions that may impact program delivery. This includes evaluating whether additional stakeholder or participant insight is required—specifically examining demographic dimensions such as race, ethnicity, and intersectional lived experiences to ensure our programming meets the unique needs of Muslim girls and young women.
Scope of Work
The consultant will work collaboratively with the Hijabi Ballers team across six key pillars:
1. Research Review & Gap Analysis
Review and synthesize existing HBiS research and secondary supporting evidence.
Identify operational implications, limitations, and evidence gaps within the initial findings.
Assess gaps related to race, ethnicity, and other demographic factors to determine where further data collection is needed.
Provide actionable recommendations to address identified gaps through engagement and program design.
2. Implementation Planning
Translate research findings and priority needs into a practical, phased implementation strategy.
Develop an adaptable implementation roadmap for participating schools.
Map key dependencies, priorities, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
3. Program Design & Delivery
Support the co-design of school-based sport clinics, leadership workshops, presentations, and coaching initiatives.
Establish culturally responsive, accessible, and high-quality program formats tailored to Muslim youth.
Develop facilitator toolkits, program templates, and standardized delivery resources.
4. School & Stakeholder Engagement
Assist with relationship management and communication protocols for participating GTA schools.
Identify school-specific operational requirements and administrative considerations.
Facilitate meaningful engagement channels with students, educators, school administrators, and coaches.
5. Facilitator & Coach Support
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of community facilitators and coaches.
Create and refine orientation guides focused on culturally responsive and trauma-informed coaching practices.
6. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
Build an MEL framework to evaluate program reach, engagement quality, implementation fidelity, and impact.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to track whether identified research gaps are being resolved.
Establish feedback loops for continuous program refinement.
Anticipated Program Activities
The school implementation phase may encompass:
Interactive school presentations promoting athletic participation and leadership.
Sport-specific clinics and movement workshops.
Leadership, well-being, sportsmanship, and confidence-building modules.
Team coaching, mentorship, and youth leadership cohorts.
School-customized physical activity initiatives.
