Lead Consultant, Strategic Plan Project
Term: Project-based contract, lasting 6 to 12 months with an estimated commitment of 200–300 hours.

The Opportunity
Hijabi Ballers is seeking a passionate and thoughtful Lead Strategic Consultant to guide the creation of our comprehensive 5-Year Strategic Plan. This is a high-impact opportunity to build on our organizational strengths, align our mission with community needs, and strategically shape the future direction of an organization dedicated to empowering Muslim women and girls in sports. The funding for this project is provided by the 2025 Toronto’s Vital Signs Grants, which focus on strengthening the capacity of small community service organizations.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities
The Lead Strategic Consultant will be responsible for driving the strategic planning process from inception to final documentation:
Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and writing of Hijabi Ballers’ 5-year strategic plan, including establishing and managing comprehensive project timelines.
Mission Alignment: Ensure the strategic plan deeply engages with and authentically reflects Hijabi Ballers’ mission, vision, and core goals.
Collaboration & Guidance: Work closely with the Director of Community and Strategy and the dedicated Strategic Plan Committee (staff, volunteers, and board members).
Community Consultation: Engage and facilitate respectful and empathetic consultation sessions and roundtables with community members, staff, and key stakeholders.
Research & Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough research to identify organizational gaps, opportunities for growth, and community priorities.
Strategy Development: Synthesize all research and consultation insights into clear, actionable strategies with defined milestones, progressive goals, and measurement frameworks.
Required Experience and Expertise
We are seeking a highly experienced individual who embodies our organizational values and has specialized knowledge in the following areas:
Strategic Planning: Previous demonstrated experience developing and writing Strategic Plans for non-profit or grassroots organizations is essential.
Community Context:
Deep understanding of the barriers to access, inclusion, and equity in community sport, with a sharp focus on marginalized communities.
Strong knowledge of the unique experiences of Muslim girls and women in sport.
Lived experience and strong affinity with the experiences of racialized and marginalized communities.
Sound knowledge of grassroots frameworks and effective community-engaged practices.
Familiarity with the GTA sports landscape, policies, and community frameworks.
Facilitation: Proven ability to professionally facilitate consultation sessions, roundtables, and engaging group discussions.
Sector Knowledge: Experience working within the grassroots/non-profit sector, preferably in Toronto.
Intersectional Understanding: Comprehensive knowledge of how sport, immigration, culture, identity, human rights, and belonging intersect.
